Set Up And Use Of The Onboard Ballistic Calculator For ZULUS Digital Scopes

1. Introduction

Zulus scopes which have the following firmware updates installed can utilize the onboard ballistic calculation feature. ZHD312R – 20240715 and newer, ZHD520R – 20240626 and newer.

The firmware update also includes enhancements to the low light and NV performance of the scope.

The firmware update will not work on non LRF scopes with serial numbers below 1714.

2.The onboard ballistic calculation feature is accessed via Ballistic Options item in the main menu Within this sub menu the options are:

a. Ballistic Calculation – when this option is selected, ballistic calculations will be performed, and the point of aim determined using the active Ballistic Data set.

b. Ballistic table – when this option is selected, the point of aim will be determined using a ballistic table previously sent to the scope from the app by Bluetooth.

c. Off – when this option is selected no ballistic calculations are performed so no holdover mark is produced when in holdover mode and no reticle shift when in dial in mode.

d. Ballistic Data Settings – when this option is selected, the screen shown next is displayed and it becomes possible to enter ballistic data.

The screen shown above is where all the ballistic data for a given rifle/ammunition combination is entered.
Up to 5 sets of ballistic data can be entered and saved using the letters A-E.
If you want to name one or more of the sets of ballistic data, then that must be done by creating a ballistic profile in the app and then sending it to the scope by Wi-Fi.
Use the right and left buttons to move up and down through the different items.
Use the record button to open the item.

When the item is open, it’s value can be changed using the record and gear buttons.
Long press the left button to save the selected value and close the item.
The following are screenshots of the items where units are selected, and numerical values are entered.
